One of the most wonderful things about Chris Crisci and The Appleseed Cast is how they solicit the build-up. They entice it out of their stories and they allow you to appreciate it, even worship it. It's the meat of these tales, just as we discover with our own lives - that the bulk of what means anything at all comes in the approach, in the introduction, but even more so in the preamble.
Once the momentum shifts and we're starting to walk through the details, everything gets much more awkward and hard-to-stomach. There's nothing left to anticipate. The kisses have become something else, something more leaden and conflicting. The sighs and the embraces are motivated by different things, mostly because everything's changed once that forward motion has reached a certain point and the mystery starts flying off like mud off a tire, connected to a vehicle that is tearing away from where it began.
We live for the build-up and the gorgeous tension that The Appleseed Cast have produced for decades, letting it burn until it gets too hot and then we get to hear about those kisses and about what we're in need or in search of now.
The Appleseed Cast were involved in an accident recently. Please help them out by buying a record so they can get back on the road!
