The new wave/art rock band had its start at the notorious CBGB's nightclub in New York City in 1975. With frontman David Byrne, keyboardist-guitarist Jerry Harrison, bassist Tina Weymouth and drummer Chris Franz, the band rose to prominence in the early '80s on the strength of such successful albums as 1980's Afro Beat flavored 'Remain in Light' and 1983's 'Speaking in Tongues,' which included the Top 10 tune "Burning Down the House." This playlist includes performances from CBGB in 1977 (tracks 1,2,3), the Berklee Performance Center in 1979 (tracks 4,5) and Canada's Heatwave Festival in 1980 (tracks 6-15).
