The pianist-composer (born in Toledo, Ohio on May 5, 1941) leads his own group featuring vocalist Joe Lee Wilson on Duke Ellington's "Come Sunday" and "I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)" in a 1974 Carnegie Hall concert, and also appears with the Heath Brothers in a 1976 Great American Music Hall concert and with the Max Roach Quintet (featuring trumpeter Charles Tolliver, tenor saxophonist Odean Pope and bassist Jymie Merritt) at the 1967 Newport Jazz Festival.
