Liner Notes

Odetta - vocals, guitar

Once you listen to Odetta you never forget her. A classically trained musician, she used her powerfully rich voice to champion civil rights issues for over 50 years.

Along with a stellar list of other performers, Odetta appeared at the Seva Foundation's 1998 "Sing out for Seva" benefit in Berkeley, California.

Odetta continued to perform through the summer of 2008. She died in New York City on December 2, 2008. We are pleased to be able to present her performance from that evening here at the Concert Vault. Read more about Odetta in Wikipedia.

The Seva Foundation is a non-profit foundation, founded in December, 1978, whose goal is to build partnerships to respond to "locally defined problems with culturally sustainable solutions throughout the world." Click here for more information on the Seva Foundation.
