Concert Summary

Phil Collins was still finding his space in the world of pop music when he embarked on his first solo tour in 1982, from which this show was recorded. There's a somewhat shaky mix of intelligent art rock influenced by his work in Genesis and Brand X, with his newfound pop sensibility exercised in the surprise mega hit solo album, Face Value.

    Like other bands that I love now, and hated at the time of their popularity, I had the opportunity to see this tour and DID NOT! Not only did this set the stage for WORLD exposure for PC, but he had an affect on racism because of his horn section during the recording of the album. If you are reading this before you have listened to the show, you are in for one of the best.

    OK, so I can't recall many of the concerts from the '80s, but this one was spectacular. Phil was in his prime, absolutely engaging the audience and so full of the magic that was his. The Mr. Collins of old is sorely missed by many, and the current one is so much less than then.
