Concert Summary

The Grateful Dead's last show at the Fillmore West was inherently a legendary event, and despite the fact that the group often failed to deliver their best performances at major events, on this night they cetainly rose to the occasion. This is also one of the last shows featuring the original, five-piece prototypical Dead lineup. Pigpen would become deathly ill a few days later, and Keith Godchaux began rehearsing with the band a few weeks afterwards.     This Good Lovin is my favorite by far. I lost the original tape and never knew which show this was, I listened to it over and over, with major tape hiss, but that did not bother me:) finding it here is like finding the HOLY GRAIL. I recognized it three seconds into the song and jumped for joy. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

    OMG 37 yrs ago tomorrow. Wish I'd been old enough to be there!! Awesome, a few errors, then bring it back together in an instant! Damn those boys could work that magic, it really was magic. At least it sure felt like it to me starting in '77!..
