Concert Summary

The late 1960s/1970 Peter Green era of Fleetwood Mac is deservedly legendary and the era that began in 1975, with the addition of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, is by far the most commercially successful era, but the time period between the two is often neglected in terms of recognition. Admittedly, this era was full of personnel changes and certainly a transitional time in the…entire summary

have to agree about the bob welch era of the band, seems to be completely forgot in the history of the band, even in interviews they go from peter green to the buckingham nicks era and move on rather quickly over this period which is a shame because there is some great stuff here and the fact that without bob welch and the way he insisted on moving the band over to america and started to write in a more ,if you like, american way you wouldn't have the mac you do today, i think the frustration of trying to keep them together got to him in the end and the anger and change of direction on the 2 paris albums he did are quite frightening, 2 heavy metal classics. also good to hear a crackle free version of this show that i've had on a bootleg for years as "will the real fleetwood mac please stand up?" nice

I saw Fleetwood Mac at the Shrine Auditorium during this time period. They absolutely blew me away, especially Bob Welch. Sadly, I never got a chance to see them when Peter Green was fronting the band, but I really felt Welch had filled the void incredibly well. I loved his songs, and he was truly inspired playing the Peter Green material as well. I made sure to tell all my friends how amazing they were, so the next time they came to town we all bought tickets and were bitterly disappointed to see that Welch had been replaced by some new guy, and they had added another blond female singer. Like Fleetwood Mac needed that!

I think the Bob Welch era of the Mac is sorely underated by most and actually unknown by many people....I think it's great and unique stuff!

Enlightening. I grew up with 1975-era Mac, then in the 80's got turned on to the Peter Green era stuff. It wasn't until a few years ago that I really got into this era (1971-1975). Thanks XM Radio! Anyway, this definitely seems, to me, to be their coolest period. A very transitional time in rock, really, between say 1972 and 1975. The end of the 60's, too much drugs, etc... Neil Young around this time is also interesting. Kind of a lost sort of feeling, but pretty cool vibes. I only wish they would have included "Heroes Are Hard To Find".

"Fleetwood Mac" became the Buckingham/Nicks band. The years with Green/Kirwan/Welch were the absolute best. Check out the "Mac" Live at The Shrine '69. The best live version of Albatross I've heard. Long live Peter Green!!!

Wow, what a great version of "Hypnotized"!

I saw the fake FM at San Jose Civic in 1974 -- this is the real deal here. I've had this show on tape for 20 years. It is the best Record Plant show, but Steve Miller comes darn close !!

Norm, apologies - they'd slipped out of the set list. They are back in now.

How come the description of the concert does not match up with the set list (which contains no Green Manilishi, Spare Me a Little, or Rattlesnake Shake)?

This is an outstanding recording of Fleetwood Mac's. Even though they're "in studio", it's still done in one take...their cohesiveness is flawless. Thank you for making this available.
