Concert Summary

David Bowie’s 1987 "Glass Spider" tour has long had a love/hate relationship with both his fans and music critics; there seemed to be no middle ground – either you loved the show, or you hated it. It was an important tour for a number of reasons, but stands apart from all other Bowie treks because it featured his old friend, Peter Frampton, on guitar. Agreed, I saw the Glass Spider tour in Philadelphia and thought it was absolutely spectacular (and still feel that way). It saddened my that the day after the show, the Critics talked about what a terrible concert is was. They said it was 'too busy', 'too excessive'. I loved this concert!

I understand that this tour has lovers and hater, but as the first concert I ever went to, at the age of 14, its still my all time favorite. Yes, it was over the top, but it was unique and genious. So many artists pander to fans and only play the classics instead of newer material. This wasn't the case here at all and ever since this first experience I've wondered why other artists never take the chance Bowie did with this tour. And no,the songs from NLMD aren't his best, but for the time, they still seem to fit. I still remember that concert and how it seemed to go on forever.
