Concert Summary

Recorded barely a month before the band's much ballyhooed "Farewell Performance" at the Royal Albert Hall in November 1968, this October 4th show provides sound documentation of the monumental impact Cream had on the world of rock ’n’ roll in the late 1960s and early ‘70s.

I remember when Cream was KING. Scralled on walls in London & NY was "Clapton is God". Towards the end ( which this concert obviously is) things were not good between the boys. I read in Rolling Stone back in the day that one of them just stopped playing during one of their shows and the other 2 never even noticed. They were once as one, but clearly now very much so, disconnected. Damn drug & alcohol addiction! The best (in my opinion) they ever sounded was their reunion gig at The Royal a few years back. I had some doubt before I viewed the DVD, although a good friend of mine warned me that I would be blow away by the performance....and man was he right! So I enjoy these lttle glimpses (thank you, Bill Graham!) back into the 60's which now seem like another lifetime ago. I know I will never see another 3 peice band come close to the Cream ever again....and that's just fine with me.
