Concert Summary

Long Island’s Blue Oyster Cult was in their rock ’n’ roll prime when this concert was taped at Boston’s Music Hall in October 1976. A DVD of this tour would later be released but as far as audio recordings, this is one of the best BOC live shows captured in that era.

This recording, although only containing five songs, is a good cross section of the band’s musical landscape. Featuring older classics like "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll" from their first album; newer tracks "Morning Final” and "This Ain’t The…entire summary

I knew Joe & Al Bouchard in Clayton, New York, in the Thousand Islands, the St. Lawrence River, on the Canadian Border, where they grew up. They were not from Long Island. Full of hell, they were, even as kids. I was at several concerts, such as the one in Syracuse where Foghat opened for them. Yes, quite a show, as all of them were. These guys paid serious dues and worked very hard. It didn't come easy to them or for them but they loved it.

Allen Lanier is a great keyboardist and very underrated guitar player. Check out his guitar work on Last Days of May form the DVD now about 5 years old.

Guitar between 3:42 - 3:50 is like no other I have ever heard by anyone. Simply brilliant band, way ahead of their time. Too bad they never got the recognition they deserve over all these years.

My all-time best concert was front-row seats for the Secret Treaties tour (aka On Your Feet), but they have put on fantastic shows in Santa Cruz recently, too.

These guys still Rock Out! I saw them in 1973 in Chicago, and have been a fan ever since. One of the best concerts I ever saw was BOC, UFO & Rush all on the same bill at the Aragon BRAWL Room in Chicago, 1974. They started with The Red & The Black with the BOC Flag being lowered during the opening chords of the song. Still gives me goosebumps everytime I hear that opening riff!
