Concert Summary

After the Never Say Die album and tour, which ran between 1978 and 1979, Black Sabbath could no longer effectively function with the overt drug and alcohol dependency of their lead singer, Ozzy Osbourne. They fired him, and he went on to develop what would become a hugely successful solo career with the help of his future wife, Sharon Arden (daughter of Sabbath’s manager, Don Arden.) I THOUGHT THAT SABBATH WAS A BETTER BAND WITH DIO THEY ROCKED SO MUCH MORE THAN WITH OZZY WHO WAS AT THE END OF THE LINE

If Dio is a "pothead" and Ozzy was a drug abuser, I've really been missing something in my vocal training regimen all these years by trying to take care of my throat! (Guess I should take up smoking, too, since I've seen 75% of all the great vocalists I've ever heard with cigarettes in their hands! Just genetics, I guess!) I love OO, but RJD is just like a lion let out of the cage here! Indeed, in an interview he once said, "Sometimes you just have to put your head in the lion's mouth!" Saw BS with Ozzy and with RJD, and both are great in their own respective ways! (I think Ian Gillan is awesome, but NOT with Sack Blabbath! The glove doesn't fit!)

This was an absolutely awesome show. Buddies and I were in college and drove from NY to Hartford to see the show. A well planned chemically induced show that had us going brom the moment Blue Oyster Cult hit the stage and then Sabbath finishing. Dio was hot with them then.

DIO IS BETTER THAN OZZY! STOP.

Why does the group picture for this concert have Ozzy in it? Dio is the singer here so there should be a picture of Dio with with the band. I'm sure WG can find a group Sabbath picture with Dio in it! If they can't, I'll happily send you one.

For people who love Sabbath (I feel that i'm their #1 fan in that northland they call Canada),check out their 1997 Last Supper DVD. Yeah, maybie Ozzy is the weakest link, but isn't Sabbath all about raw metal power from Geezer,Bill on the skins and cymbals and the Wizard on Vaocals? Tony Iommi is definitely the Jimi Hendrix of what is now called Heavy Metal (goood ole psychadelic hard rock) and he paved the way, along with Ritchie Blacmore and Jimmy Page as the triumvirate of old school guitar proficiency. Enjoy Dio though as a vocalist, yes definitely more polished and better sounding nowadays ! Good stuff here lives thru magic of the Vault!

Wow, any live Sabbath is awesome! Seen them twice with Dio. Sometimes the keyboard in the background of this recording gets a little distracting, though.

Hey Tex1836, if you saw them two months ago was that with Bill on drums? I thought it was that lineup? I am blind.
