Concert Summary

This 1976 Black Sabbath concert is from the tour that promoted the band’s Technical Ecstasy album. This Warner record followed a series of masterful album releases and thus failed to reach its anticipated mark. A few years after this recording was made, the band would go through a major transition, with the firing of Ozzy Osbourne for excessive drug and alcohol abuse and the hiring of Ronnie James Dio as his replacement. But the original lineup…entire summary

Sorry - I listened to the whole show, and by the time "Snowblind" and "Children of the Grave" were played, I realized the band was playing in a HIGHER key than previously recorded! This means that (See my previous comment below this one.) after playing songs at a lower key than normal, they went above it. Pretty freaky, huh? (OK - I'll shut my mouth - or stop my typing now!)

I love the sound they get during this show, but the tuning isn't the "regular" that I'm used to hearing, it being at least a half step lower than the recordings. Even with Ozzy singing the material lower, it kicks ass! (The only thing more bloodcurdling is hearing the "Ozzy Meets the Priest" bootleg with Rob Halford singing this one - a totally amped version!)

I was at the Madison Square Garden show for this tour. If memory serves me correctly, I believe Ted Nugent was the opening act. This to me represents Sabbath at their peak. Great performance - Thanks for bringing it all back !

even though they went back to regular tuning on this one, the distortion is still dirty as hell. love it!!!

I saw (and recorded) this show, 1 month prior, in Fresno Ca. This was my 2nd Sabbath show. Lineup was: Boston, Bob Seger, & Sabbath. One of the last 3 band lineups to come through town. Great show! Excellent Recording WV!!

First time I went to see Ozzy, was at old Pine Knob in Michigan, with Metallica ( Master of Puppets tour. ) Had 5th row. Have not seen a better upclose show since. It was 86 I believe.
